Ronson sells consumer business to Zippo
Ronson Corp., in Woodbridge, said Thursday it entered into a definitive agreement to sell its consumer products business to Zippo Manufacturing Co. for $11.1 million. Ronson is a maker of cigarette lighters, butane torches and spot removers, and a provider of aviation services. [via NJBiz]

Zippo to launch paid version of lighter app?
Another Adwhirl study concluded that cross-promotions between a free and paid app can help drive sales, though this works better when the free app is successful and can serve as a marketing hook for the paid app. Lighter marketer Zippo seems to be taking this route; the company is set to launch a paid version of its popular app later this year that lets users personalize their lighters with a collection of downloadable skins, designs and images.
